What I Do
Web Design
Designing websites for small to medium-sized businesses on a freelance basis. Designing websites and web applications for large corporations with the digital engagement agency Piehead.
Logo & Brand Design
Branding and logo design is very important as everything can be marketed as a product. I could say a bunch of ish about our consumerist culture, but if you're reading this, you probably are aware, and so examples of my work in this field can be found in my resume.
User Experience Design
Designing for usability and interaction is all under the umbrella term that is "User Experience." I combine the understanding of human behavior and thinking with a clean, interesting design with the aim to create a powerful and easy web experience.
Airbrush Art
One of my true passions is painting! I was originally a painting major and switched to graphic design and web design to blend my love of fine art, design, technology and computers. Airbrush painting on faces, bodies, clothes, signs, and murals satisfies a looser and more hands-on desire for creation.
Video Creation & Editing
Video creation stems from a passion for capturing visual compositions from life and imagination and giving them motion. I am currently developing my skills in video-editing and animation to incorporate into the field of UX and for fun, as the web presence of this medium continues to grow.
Print Design
Occasionally, I will indulge my clients and myself and undertake print design projects. I design book covers, brochures, marketing materials, posters, flyers and I will occasionally layout and typeset books.
About
Me
I am a User Experience designer dedicated to cultivating useful and innovative experiences in the virtual world and in the real world.
Born in South Korea. Made in USA. Professional web/UX designer, graphic artist, airbrush artist and painter, music lover, technology enthusiast, yogi, avid reader.
One of the most interesting aspects of the industry in which I work is the people I meet and how they have all arrived to their current roles. The design and user experience community is a motley crew I am proud to be a part of.
I started out as a fine artist and illustrator with a love for video and computer games. The first website I ever made was with Microsoft Office '97 and was a website for my Ultima Online guild. (I know!) At this point, it made sense to blend art and computers with graphic design. I taught myself how to use Photoshop and Dreamweaver and added programming classes to my college workload. Needless to say, the ball was set in motion and fueled by a perpetual thirst for knowledge. Enter the Internet. =)
I belong to the Millennial Generation; born as the protoypical spawn of the Digital Age. I feel it is my duty to guide, in at least the smallest way, the direction of the future of virtual experience as it expands more and more into our lives and blurs the lines of the human experience in virtual environments.
Currently
I am an Interaction Designer with eight years of experience in visual, UI/UCD and interaction design. Before beginning my career at Oracle, I spent almost two years with at the agency Piehead where I worked on a wide range of web and mobile experiences for clients such as Comcast, Scientific Games, American Stock Transfer, Kaspersky, and NuvoTV, to name a few. Prior work experience includesRodale Inc., Accenture, The Vanguard Group, The Hartford Financial Services Inc. and American/Thames Water. My work derives from a passion for driving the future of virtual experience as it increasingly expands into our lives and blurs the lines between human experience and digital environments.
Providing meaning to a mass of unrelated needs, ideas, words and pictures - it is the designer's job to select and fit this material together and make it interesting. ~ Paul Rand
